Fans Think Zhang Linghe & Tian Xiwei Are Dating ’Cos Of These Suspicious Late-Night Walk Videos
The Pursuit Of Jade co-stars have sparked fresh dating rumours after sharing similar videos — and fans think Linghe's deleted post makes things even more suspicious.
Are Pursuit Of Jade co-stars Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei secretly dating? That's the question fans have been asking after a series of seemingly innocuous social media posts sparked fresh romance rumours.
The pair, both 28, have been linked ever since viewers fell for their chemistry in the hit Chinese period drama. Now, shippers believe they've spotted yet another clue.
It all started when Xiwei shared a late-night stroll video on Weibo on June 11, with ‘Summer Wind’ playing in the background.
In the clip, the actress smiled at the camera as the song's lyrics declared: "Clearly telling me that you love me."
A week later, Linghe posted a similar video of him on a late-night walk while visiting his university alma mater. The background track? ‘The Wind Carried Away My Longing’.
Fans quickly connected the dots, pointing out that both songs revolve around the theme of "wind", with some joking that the stars were engaging in a "long-distance duet".
The speculation intensified when Linghe deleted the video shortly after posting it and re-uploaded it with a different soundtrack.
While some fans viewed the move as suspicious, others noted that the original song contained Japanese lyrics and suggested he may simply have been avoiding unnecessary controversy.
That's not the only detail fans latched onto.
Sharp-eyed fans claimed a reflection in the video showed Linghe flashing a victory sign, which they interpreted as a nod to Xiwei's nickname, VV.
Um, that's a bit of a stretch.
This isn't the first time the rumoured couple have sent fans into detective mode.
Back in May, they posted travel vlogs from New York and Singapore just 21 minutes apart.
Fans pointed to similar hand gestures, street scenes and even background music as evidence of a connection.
Some even noted that the date happened to fall exactly 520 days after the stars first met at a 2023 awards event.
For the uninitiated, "520" sounds like "I love you" in Mandarin and is widely associated with romance in Chinese internet culture.
Fans have also pointed to the pair carrying the same Gucci Paparazzo bag as another "clue", although the coincidence is perhaps less surprising given that both are Gucci ambassadors.
Not everyone sees the alleged clues as proof of a romance.
Some netizens have pointed out that the actors were in different cities and posted their videos at different times, while Linghe's late-night stroll was simply a visit to his former university.
Neither star has addressed the rumours, but fans clearly aren't done connecting the dots just yet.
