Cameraman Spotted In Hit Period Drama Pursuit Of Jade As Viewers Notice Multiple Bloopers

Chinese historical romance drama Pursuit of Jade (逐玉), which premiered earlier this month on Tencent Video, iQIYI and Netflix, has quickly become one of the most buzzed-about shows online.

Adapted from web novel of the same name, the drama the series stars Tian Xiwei as Fan Changyu, a butcher’s daughter struggling to support her family, and Zhang Linghe as Xie Zheng, a fallen noble seeking revenge. The two enter a marriage of convenience that gradually blossoms into genuine love. 

But a recent scene has viewers looking at the background instead of the romance.

In episode 8, a scene shows Fan Changyu chatting with her neighbour by candlelight. The setting is dim and intimate — except for one small detail.

Look closely behind them and you might notice a bespectacled guy, who appears to be a cameraman, sitting in the background.

Even more noticeable? His face is brightly lit, making him stick out in the otherwise candle-lit scene.

Yes, that’s a crew member who somehow made it into the final cut.

The slip-up quickly made the rounds on social media.

“Why is his face so bright?” one netizen asked, while another joked, “Did he time travel to the set?”

A third echoed what many viewers were thinking: “How is it that no one noticed him?”

The cameo isn’t the only continuity error viewers have spotted. A quick search online reveals screenshots of an extra wearing a face mask, someone carrying a modern umbrella, and even a gas stove appearing in scenes set in ancient times.
