Netizen Says They Paid US$100,000 for Dark Web Video of Yu Menglong’s Alleged Torture

Chinese actor Yu Menglong died on September 11 after falling from a building. However, the suspicious circumstances surrounding his death have led many to suspect foul play, with unverified rumours of abuse and exploitation emerging online.

Recently, Chinese YouTuber Li Muyang claimed he was contacted by a netizen who allegedly spent US$100,000 (S$129,783) to purchase video evidence from the dark web, purportedly showing Menglong being tortured and murdered.

The anonymous source reportedly described the contents of the video to Li, who later recounted their account to his viewers.

According to the source, Menglong was violently assaulted by multiple individuals on the night of his death. His pet dog, Fuli was also said to have been present during the attack.

Li stated that the alleged video has since been submitted to the FBI as evidence and cannot be released publicly.

When asked by netizens whether the footage contained graphic scenes such as disembowelment or cannibalism, Li clarified that it did not — though it allegedly depicted severe abuse of both Menglong and his dog.

“The only video I saw showed [Menglong] being thrown down at the end,” Li said. “The location didn’t change. It was the same place where Fuli was beaten to death.”

The anonymous netizen further claimed that during the assault, Fuli barked loudly in an attempt to protect Menglong. At that moment, an individual with pink hair allegedly appeared and, along with actors Song Yiren and Fan Shiqi, attacked the dog.

Song Yiren and Fan Shiqi were previously rumoured to have attended the gathering Menglong joined on the night before his fatal fall.

The same source also alleged that Menglong was still alive before being thrown from the building, though “barely,” and with his face “beaten beyond recognition.”

For now, the official cause of Yu Menglong’s death remains as initially reported by Chinese authorities. The authenticity of the video, the claims made by the anonymous netizen, and any alleged involvement of others have not been verified.

While the source insists the video was submitted to U.S. authorities, there has been no official confirmation or response regarding that claim.
