Fan Shiqi’s Concert Sells Just 15 Tickets After Yu Menglong Death Scandal

Chinese actor Yu Menglong's sudden death on September 11 has sparked many conspiracy theories, with many online alleging the actor’s fall was not an “accident” or an “alcohol-related incident” as authorities claimed. 

Menglong's mother was also alleged to have written a letter suggesting foul play in her son's death. 

According to reports, Menglong attended a gathering of over 10 people at a friend’s home the night before his death. The next day, his body was discovered at the foot of the same building.

A list of 17 attendees later circulated online — one of them being 33-year-old Chinese actor-singer Fan Shiqi.

Best known for his appearance on the second season of Call Me By Fire, Shiqi has since seen his career derailed over alleged links to Menglong’s death.

Though he was only cast in a supporting role in the upcoming C-drama Xu Wo Yao Yan (Let Me Shine) starring Zhao Lusi, his name has already been scrubbed from all promotional materials.

Chinese netizens have also called for a boycott against him.

In a clip circulating online, reportedly filmed at the gathering before Menglong’s death, a voice — which many netizens claim belongs to Shiqi — can be heard shouting: “Spit it out, hurry! Hu Haiyang, knock yourself out!”

Beyond affecting Zhao Lusi’s new drama, Shiqi’s entire showbiz career now appears to be in freefall.

His concert tour has reportedly flopped, with just 15 tickets sold for his Chengdu stop in Sichuan — leading many to believe his fans have deserted him.

“Serves him right,” echoed several netizens.

Another commented: “If he still had powerful backing, the venue would be full. But now it seems he’s been left to fend for himself.”
