A Xiaohongshu user simply wanted to gush about bumping into Hong Kong actor Simon Yam, 71, and his 21-year-old daughter, Ella. Instead, his video sparked a heated online debate, with some netizens saying the pair looked "more like a couple than father and daughter".

The user, who filmed the pair during the chance encounter, captioned his video: "Bumped into Simon Yam and his daughter on the street. Him doting on his daughter is so heartwarming."

In the clip, Simon is seen holding Ella's hand as they cross the road before later wrapping an arm around her waist as they stroll along, chatting and laughing.

Many netizens found the interaction sweet, with some praising Simon as a "devoted and loving dad".

Others, however, felt the pair were being a little too affectionate, describing their behaviour as "inappropriate" for a father and daughter.
