Ada Choi's Husband Criticised For Kissing Teenage Daughters; Sparks Debate Over Boundaries
Chinese actor Max Zhang, 52, probably didn't expect his Father's Day celebration to turn into a debate about parenting boundaries.
His wife, Hong Kong actress Ada Choi, also 52, recently shared snippets from their family holiday in the Maldives with their three children, Zoe, 15, Chloe, 13, and Le Er, six.
The family-of-five looked every bit the picture of happiness as they soaked up the sun, enjoyed water sports and strolled along the beach together.
In one clip, the family gathered indoors to celebrate Father’s Day. Zoe and Chloe presented flowers to their dad and gave him hugs before Max responded with kisses on their cheeks.
While many viewers saw the interaction as a sweet display of fatherly love, others felt differently.
The seemingly innocent gestures soon sparked debate online, with some netizens questioning whether the girls, who are now teenagers, are at an age where more physical boundaries should be maintained between father and daughters.
Comments such as “There’s a lack of boundaries” and “It feels a little awkward to watch” began appearing online, with some arguing that although Max’s actions were clearly motivated by love, a different expression of affection might have been more suitable given the girls’ ages.
Others, however, came to the actor’s defence, saying there was nothing inappropriate about a father showing affection to his children and that the family’s close bond was being unfairly scrutinised.
