Chinese Factory Worker Looks Just Like Jordan Chan, Sparks Speculation He's The Star's Long-Lost Brother Who Was Sold For S$570
The resemblance is so uncanny that netizens have urged Jordan to take a DNA test.
Could Hong Kong singer-actor Jordan Chan, 59, have finally found his long-lost younger brother?
That was what netizens were wondering after a video of a factory worker in Fuzhou, Fujian, who bears an uncanny resemblance to the star went viral.
The clip, posted on October 14, shows the man wearing a red safety helmet while operating a laser-cutting machine.
Netizens were quick to point out how much he looked like Jordan, from his facial features and expressions to the way he walks and swings his arms.
Some eagle-eyed netizens even noticed that both men appeared to have a similar indentation on their earlobes.
And that's not all.
The worker, identified as Chen Xianglu, reportedly speaks Mandarin with a Cantonese accent and shares the same surname as Jordan.
His name also sounds similar to that of Jordan's missing brother, reportedly named Chen Xiaolu.
Convinced that the resemblance was more than just a coincidence, netizens began speculating that the worker could be Jordan's younger brother, who was given up for adoption as a child.
Some even flooded Jordan and his wife Cherrie Ying's social media accounts, urging the actor to take a DNA test.
Jordan previously shared that he grew up in extreme poverty in a village in Guangdong.
His parents struggled to feed their four children, and Jordan would collect rubbish to help support the family.
One day, he came across a notice from a wealthy family offering 3,000 yuan (S$570) to adopt a healthy young boy.
Not knowing any better, he went home and told his parents about it.
Desperate to make ends meet, his parents eventually sold their youngest son, who was still a baby, to another family for 3,000 yuan (S$570).
The family lost all contact with the boy.
Jordan later revealed that the incident was one of his biggest regrets, blaming himself for telling his parents about the adoption notice.
After finding success in showbiz, he wanted to track down his brother, but his father discouraged him from doing so.
His father reasoned that the boy's adoptive parents had spent years raising him, and suddenly reappearing in his life could disrupt his happiness and would be unfair to them.
Unfortunately for netizens hoping for a family reunion, the factory worker has since come forward to clear up the speculation.
During a livestream on Oct 15, Xianglu, 47, said he was born and raised in his biological family and was never adopted.
He also revealed that he has two older brothers and an older sister, and denied claims that he has a distinctive plum-blossom-shaped birthmark.
According to Xianglu, his resemblance to Jordan and their shared surname are purely coincidental.
He later posted a video reiterating that he is not the actor's brother and asked netizens to stop spreading the rumours.
