Kenji Wu Dresses As Spider-Man To Help Man Find Long-Lost Son, Invites Him To His Concert To Raise Awareness
Most people dress up as superheroes for fun. But for Taiwanese singer Kenji Wu, there was a much more meaningful reason.
Recently, the 46-year-old was spotted dressed as Spider-Man outside an anime convention in Xi’an, China, where he was seen handing out flyers to passers-by.
As it turns out, Kenji was there to support Wu Xinghu, a father who has spent 18 years searching for his missing son. Together, they distributed more than 1,000 missing-person flyers on the streets, hoping to raise awareness and reach more people.
According to reports, Kenji learnt about Xinghu after watching the documentary I Want to Find You, which shed light on the father’s long search for his son, Wu Jiacheng. The boy was reportedly abducted from their home by suspected human traffickers when he was just 13 months old.
As Spider-Man was Jiacheng’s favourite character as a young child, Xinghu spent years travelling across China dressed as the superhero in the hope of finding his son, who would now be around 19 years old.
On top of that, Kenji also invited Xinghu to one of his concerts to help spread the word about his missing son.
According to his video on Xiaohongshu, the singer even replaced the usual concert streamers with small missing-person notices, allowing the message to reach even more people as the streamers floated through the air.
Kenji’s act of kindness touched many concertgoers, and many fans have since stepped forward to take extra flyers and help spread the word.
