If you think you are close to your mum, wait till you meet Cassandra See and her son, Lukas Schuler.

The former Mediacorp actress and her 25-year-old son are the latest guests on 8days chat show DNA, where celebrity parents and their kids reveal what really goes on behind closed doors.

And let’s just say their dynamic is less mother and son, and like more besties who overshare.

Cassandra, who first entered showbiz via Star Search in 1991 and clinched the “Most Charismatic” title then, clearly hasn’t lost that larger-than-life energy.

When host Rebecca Lim pointed out that Cassandra is the kind of person you’d “hear before you see”, Cassandra rolled her eyes and asked laughingly: “Should I take it as a compliment?”

Guess that's a yes.

Cassandra left Mediacorp in 2000 to focus on her personal life, and eventually moved to Hong Kong, then Korea, before moving back to Singapore between late 2017 and early 2018.

Lukas, who is a brand manager for a few alcohol brands, on the other hand, has for years been noticed for his pan-Asian good looks.

He is Cassandra’s only child with her German ex-husband, with whom she split in 2003. She was also married to a Korean who reportedly works in the hospitality industry.

When asked if he is anything like his mum, Lukas casually reveals that they do “merged parties”.

“I will have my friends over, she will have her friends over,” he says.

Without missing a beat, Cassandra quips: “We party together”.

Wait, partying with your parents is a whole different level. Turns out, it didn’t just happen overnight.

“I would celebrate [his] birthday for him, and I will invite my friends because when he was a baby, he had no friends, so it’s my friends, and he’s the only child. And my friends will know that every time it’s Lukas’ birthday, it’s my party,” she explained.

Makes sense.

Why wait for your kid to grow up when you can start the party early, right?

These parties apparently appear to have unlocked a core memory with Lukas, who recalls: “I remember at East Coast Park, she was like puking into a bucket. I think I was eight or nine years old then.” Cassandra responded with a sheepish look.

According to Lukas, his friends are also more than happy to hang out with Cassandra and her friends, revealing that they were close to her as well.

At one birthday party attended by fellow celeb kids — including Calvert Tay (Hong Huifang and Zhen Geping’s son), Marcus Guo (Guo Liang’s son), and Beckham Wee (Pan Lingling and Huang Shinan’s son) — Lukas didn’t even make it past the starting line.

“Before the party started, [Lukas] was already so drunk. In the end, he just lay on the floor, and his friends kept asking him to wake up. In the end, all his friends said, “Let’s party with auntie Cassandra,” she laughed.

Yes, she literally went out partying with her son’s friends, while he was passed out at home on his own birthday.

Of course, Lukas remembers it well. “I woke up like 4am then I was like, “Eh, I remember I have a party earlier on, then when I looked at the phone, I see my mum posting videos with my friends.”

Cassandra also reveals that while Lukas was growing up, she thought it was common for a mother and son to have such a close relationship.

Lukas even admits he probably has the closest relationship with his mum compared to his friends.

“Because I see her more as a bro, a sister, I guess? It is easy to just meet her, and talk to her about my relationships, everything,” which of course begets another one of Cassandra’s now-famous eye rolls.

Even now, at 25, Lukas, who recently moved out and just got out of a four-year relationship, still talks to his mum daily, sometimes till 2 or 3am.

“I think it is good to have a girl’s perspective,” he says.

When Rebecca noted that he is actually willing to listen to Cassandra’s perspective, Cassandra immediately quips: “Because I am always right!”.
