The latest #JustSwipeLah episode took its crew and host Juin Teh to Ipoh, one of the filming locations for the Mediacorp thriller series Highway to Somewhere.

The cast spent nearly two months filming in Malaysia, including around 20 days at the Ipoh hotel that Juin visited. There, the host raided their rooms, giving viewers a peek at what the stars’ living spaces look like while on a work trip.

First up were Romeo Tan and Nick Teo, whose rooms were pretty much what you’d expect. They brought along sunscreen for the scorching day shoots, mosquito repellent, and a suitcase each for essentials like clothes, skincare, and scripts. Besides Romeo’s LED face mask device, there wasn’t much out of the ordinary.

Then came Bonnie Loo’s room, meticulously arranged to feel just like home.

When Juin and Bonnie’s co-star Herman Keh first entered her room, the 31-year-old Ipoh-born actress revealed: “I was the only one who brought three suitcases. Because we’re away from home for a long time. For me, if I’m working outside, I want the place to feel comfortable and safe.”

Bonnie arranged her desk as a proper workstation, neatly organizing her scripts and belongings. She also confessed that she’s big on cleanliness, though it quickly became obvious without her having to say it.

She bought a new pillow and bedsheet in Malaysia, as she wasn’t comfortable with the hotel ones and “wanted something with her own scent.”

Showing off her sheets, she added: “Whenever I go overseas, I would always buy these disposable bedsheets and pillowcases. My skin is a bit sensitive, so I would prepare these things.”

Juin then noticed that the TV remote in Bonnie’s room was tucked inside a transparent plastic bag. Bonnie explained that when she first arrived, the remote was dusty and hard to clean, so she covered it with the bag.

“It’s my first time seeing someone do this,” remarked Herman. And honestly, same.

Bonnie also shared about her routine upon checking in at a hotel. “When I go to a new place, especially a hotel, I would always clean everything first. I’ll clean it until I feel comfortable, then I’ll put my things down at each spot,” she said.

“I’ll feel like there’s a lot of dust, and I don’t like the smell. I like my own [preferred] scent, so I’ll use scented sachets and such.”

Unsurprisingly, she also packed disposable gloves for snacking, making homemade hand masks, and, of course, cleaning her space.

She doesn’t save effort when it comes to cleaning the hotel toilet either, pointing out that “many people have used the toilet”.

With a laugh, Bonnie revealed: “I would use the hot water boiled in the kettle and pour it over the toilet bowl.”

In the bathroom, she also keeps a small tub for hand-washing undergarments, a foldable bin for foot soaks, and an entire section of the vanity dedicated to her skincare and bath items, turning the space into a mini spa.

“We’re here for 20 days, which is almost a month. I actually like cleaning because I can’t stand dirtiness, so I would want to clean everything,” added Bonnie.

According to a #JustSwipeLah producer, Bonnie has cleaned every hotel room she's stayed in, and by that point, she had already done so for all seven hotels on the trip.

Honestly, we can’t say Bonnie’s not prepared for life away from home.
