Vanness Wu’s Gaunt Look Sparks Panic; He Says He's Just Terrible At Taking Selfies

Earlier this week, a mirror selfie of Taiwanese singer-actor Vanness Wu unexpectedly set Weibo ablaze.

A post claimed that “Vanness Wu has lost 20 kilograms,” accompanied by a photo showing the F4 star with noticeably sunken cheeks and what looked like a much thinner frame.

Unsurprisingly, fans were alarmed.

Some wondered if the 47-year-old was going through something.

“He looks like a skeleton, kind of scary,” one netizen wrote. “When someone gets too thin, they immediately look older,” said another.

Others speculated he was dropping weight for the upcoming F4 reunion concerts with Jerry Yan and Vic Chou.

Following the group's surprise reunion at Mayday's concert in November, F4 announced their F☆FOREVER City of Stars World Tour in Shanghai from Dec 19 to 22, though member Ken Chu is notably missing from the lineup.

But fans can relax. Vanness has already addressed the situation.

He posted a new video shaking his head side-to-side, showing his actual face from multiple angles.

“Am I really that skinny?!” he asked.

He then laughed it off.

“Selfie skills are really important, and obviously I’m not good at them,” he wrote, adding a laughing-while-crying emoji.

Translation: he hasn’t actually lost that much weight. It was just bad lighting (and maybe a cursed selfie angle).

Netizens appreciated the honesty: “Very handsome, but please don’t take extreme-angle selfies again,” one joked.
