Ken Chu Left The F4 Group Chat In The Midst Of Discussions For Recent F4 Reunion At Mayday Concert

For someone who insists they're not friends, Ken Chu sure talks about his fellow F4 members a lot, often mentioning them on live streams too. 

The Taiwanese boyband recently created a stir after their surprise reunion at Mayday's concert at the Taipei Dome on July 12. This was the first time the Meteor Garden group has shared a stage in 12 years, after their disbandment in 2009. 

To say that fans were thrilled to see Jerry Yan, 48, Vic Chou, 44, Vanness Wu, 46, and Ken, 46, perform ‘Meteor Rain’ together again is an understatement.

Many also hoped that the comeback performance could quash rumours about the bad blood between the members, and is a sign that they'd embark on a concert tour next year for their 25th anniversary.

Well, until Ken decided to shatter their dreams once again. 

A few days after the concert, Ken went on a Douyin live stream to talk about the highly-raved reunion.

He first shared that they were only gathered together this time as Mayday's lead singer, Ashin, wished to "bring back the beautiful parts about [their] youth while [they] are still healthy and fit". 

Ken eventually said yes because he was touched by Ashin's intentions. However, this was also the same time he decided to completely cut contact with the other three members.

"Indeed we had a group chat initially, but I left it," he said.

"You guys won't be able to understand how complicated things can get if four people are managed by four different companies, or are all doing their own thing independently." 

To make things easier, Ken then refrained from "discussing [the reunion] with them", and left it to the organisers.

He also deleted their numbers, which he does with anyone who "doesn't contact [him] within two years". He described his relationship with the members as "neither bad nor good", though there's no beef between them.

"I think we're all busy with our own stuff. If you contact people every now and then, it's quite weird," he quipped.

"Actually I've said this many times, we're not on bad terms and nothing bad happened between us. I just think relationships between humans don't have to be so strong," he added.

The actor also admitted that being an F4 member was not happy thing for him.

"It's not that [my group members] made me unhappy. I'm just inherently not cut out for this industry. I'm not happy in this industry," he said. 

When asked why he's still in showbiz if he doesn't like it, Ken said: "You mean you don't have that one thing you hate about your job yet have no choice but to do it?" He then asserted that he no longer needs F4 to make money now.

Guess this reunion did nothing to salvage their friendship after all.
