Shu Qi Reveals She Was Friends With Every One Of Hubby Stephen Fung's Exes

Taiwanese actress Shu Qi, 50, and Hong Kong actor-director Stephen Fung’s love story is well known among fans.

The couple first met while filming the 1998 movie Bishonen and remained friends for years before they started dating, eventually tying the knot in 2016.

But when asked during an appearance on Chinese variety show Mao Xue Woof if she'd ever had feelings for Stephen, 52, when they first met, she didn't hesitate.

"Not at all. Not even a little bit."

Why?

"He already had a girlfriend. Second... I knew his girlfriend. I was close to every girlfriend he had," she said.

Stephen was romantically-linked with several actresses before settling down with Shu Qi.

Besides Vivian Hsu and Kitty Zhang, his most high-profile relationship was with Karen Mok. Introduced by the late Leslie Cheung, the pair dated for nine years before calling it quits in 2007.

As for how she and Stephen eventually became more than friends, Shu Qi said it happened naturally after he spent time keeping her company during a difficult period in her life.

"At first, we just chatted like ordinary friends. We talked and talked for several days, and things just naturally evolved from there."

Shu Qi also revealed that Stephen never proposed — though she insisted she never wanted one anyway.

"I didn't want one at all," she said, explaining that after starring in so many romance films and wearing countless wedding gowns on screen, "no matter what, it wouldn't be as romantic as in the movies."

Having starred opposite heartthrobs like Andy Lau, Daniel Wu, Nicholas Tse, and, of course, Stephen, Shu Qi was also asked to rank the most handsome actors she'd worked with.

Her top three?

Leslie Cheung, Andy and Takeshi Kaneshiro.

"My husband definitely isn't in the top three," she laughed.
