Turritopsis Dohrnii Teo En Ming Files Police Report Over TikTok ‘Shadow-Ban’

Local social media personality Turritopsis Dohrnii Teo En Ming recently made an Instagram post which raised the eyebrows of many.

Posting a screenshot of a police report he made on September 28, he detailed: “For many months now, I feel as though I have been trapped under a TikTok shadow ban — hidden, silenced, and cut off from the audience I have worked tirelessly to reach.”

‘Shadow-banning’ refers to when a social media user’s content is not made visible to others or is restricted on a social platform, without the creator's knowledge. This generally results in a drop in the affected user’s reach and engagement.

Teo En Ming reported of his posts “barely reaching more than a few hundred viewers” despite his continuous efforts to put out content. He feels as though his “voice is deliberately suppressed” as a result.

He continued: "In my frustration and desperation, I cannot help but ask: must I truly consider filing a lawsuit against TikTok or its CEO, Chew Shou Zi, before this shadow ban will ever be lifted?”

Teo En Ming also mentioned he was reminded by the magistrate from State Courts he “cannot afford legal counsel”.

He ended his statement by seeking the Singapore Police Force’s (SPF) “advice and guidance” on his situation, signing off as an “ardent PAP government supporter”.

Reactions of netizens ranged from tickled, to confused, to mocking.

While some questioned how he expected the police to render their help in his situation, one netizen wondered if he was “ragebaiting” the SPF.

A comment also read: “Please don’t waste our civil resources. You can try pro bono lawyers who might be willing to help you.”

A few netizens also expressed confusion at his report, with a handful likening the whole situation to a satirical act.

Considering what Teo En Ming has previously shared, he likely isn’t joking about the situation at all. He’s no stranger when it comes to sharing about his personal life online.

In interviews he did some seven years ago, he shared about his dream to be a Japanese adult video (JAV) actor.

In 2023, he went viral after making a TikTok video announcing his plans to run in the Presidential Election.

He also gained attention for sharing about the addition of ‘Turritopsis Dohrnii’ a species of immortal jellyfish —to his legal name Teo En Ming.

Everything else aside, Teo En Ming, who in the past, had spoken about being diagnosed with schizophrenia, is perhaps most well known for attending many cosplay events, car shows, and events with celeb appearances, where he often takes and posts selfies taken with others.

His most recent police report? One more item to add to his already deep lore.
