Here is one way to get your partner’s attention. Post throwback pictures of them when they were thirst-trapping the Internet.
That’s what Taiwanese actress Kate Pang did when she cheekily uploaded a carousel of throwback photos of her husband, Andie Chen, all from more than a decade ago.
The best part? He had no idea she was going to post those pictures.
“I just saw it a second ago!” laughed Andie when 8days.sg called him, adding that it took a mutual friend to alert him to the post.
The Fixing Fate actor shares that since being involved with F&B group Creative Eateries — where he's co-owner and Chief Marketing Officer — in Singapore, he has been away from Kate and their two kids, Aden,11, and Avery, nine, for about five months now.
“I was only back in Taiwan for a couple of weeks during Chinese New Year, and [Kate] has been openly sharing how much she misses me,” he says, adding that he will be heading back after Star Awards 2026 for an undisclosed project.
Probably explains Kate’s, who is obviously in her Pursuit of Jade era, captions.
Referencing the hit drama, she cheekily described Andie as the “Marquis of Wu’an” in their household, joking that while he may not look the same anymore, she’s still willing to “slaughter pigs to support him”.
In the popular C-drama, actress Tian Xiwei’s plays a butcher who supports her family, and husband, played by Zhang Linghe.
However, it seems memory of when Andie took some of these thirst traps were blurry, though he seems to remember the one of him in a police cap and sunglasses was from when he was filming C.L.I.F. 2 (2012).
When first asked how he feels about seeing the photos now, he pauses a little, before saying: “I mean, I’m feeling unsexy right now, so I don’t know,” sharing that he is also under the weather.
Andie also shares that despite not remembering the exact dates for when those pictures were shot, he recalls how he felt during that time.
“I felt like I was constantly starving for about three years, though I was quite lean,” he says.
But he also tells 8days.sg that those pictures might be the spark he needs.
These days, Andie says his body fat percentage is around 18 per cent. Not bad for someone juggling his work in F&B, where he has been hosting a number of food tastings.
“It is hard when you turn 40, but looking at those posts, it’s like a reminder that I’ve always wanted to get into better shape. I need to get a minimum amount of exercise, and I want to think that I have not peaked yet lah,” he laughs.
Looks like Andie’s thirst trap era might not be totally over yet.
