Mario Ho’s Wife Wears 22 Gold Bangles Worth S$573K At Wedding Tea Ceremony
We’ve seen some extravagant wedding jewellery, but Chinese supermodel Ming Xi’s latest haul is quite something.
Just look at the 18 massive gold bangles hanging around her neck.
And nope, that’s not even all of them.
The 37-year-old, who is married to Mario Ho, the son of the late casino magnate Stanley Ho, 31, also had another two bangles on each wrist, bringing the grand total to 22 giant dragon-and-phoenix bangles.
We don't know about you, but we'd probably need a neck massage after wearing the gold bangles all day.
Ming Xi shared pics from her traditional Chinese wedding tea ceremony on Instagram earlier this week, and naturally, all that gold immediately got everyone talking.
The private ceremony was held on Sep 28, the same day the couple threw a wedding appreciation banquet in Macau for relatives and friends who were unable to attend their wedding at Mont-Saint-Michel in France in June.
According to reports, the 22 bangles were wedding gifts from her mother-in-law, Angela Leong, 65, Stanley’s fourth wife.
Netizens have since nicknamed Ming Xi’s very OTT neckpiece a “golden collar”, while some joked that the enormous bangles looked like “meteor hammers”.
Honestly, we can see it.
Netizens estimate the 22 bangles are worth close to 3mil yuan (S$573K) in total, though their actual value has not been disclosed.
Besides bangles, Angela reportedly also passed down jewellery with considerably more sentimental value.
Among the pieces was an Australian South Sea pearl necklace that Stanley had given Angela as a token of their relationship, as well as an antique hairpin.
Ming later showed off the jewellery on social media, referring to the pieces as “vintage high jewelry from mom”.
With that much gold on her, you’d think Ming Xi’s outfit would fade into the background.
Not quite.
The supermodel wore an elaborate silver-white kwa, which reportedly took a whopping 3,600 hours to make by hand. The intricate design features layers of flowers as well as auspicious lotus, dragon and phoenix motifs.
Ming and Mario registered their marriage in 2019 but only held their wedding seven years later, after the celebration was reportedly postponed multiple times due to family matters.
They have a six-year-old son Ronaldo and daughter Romee, four.
