Netflix workplace romance The Early Spring is one of the hottest Chinese dramas right now, so it’s no surprise viewers are obsessed with leads Jing Boran and Sun Qian.

Their chemistry as Luan Nian and Shang Zhitao has won them plenty of shippers, with many hoping they’ll reunite for sequel Midsummer Sunny Day.

But those hoping for the onscreen couple to become a real-life one will be disappointed.

Boran, 37, attended a fashion show in Shanghai earlier this week with his longtime girlfriend, Chinese supermodel Liu Wen, 38.

And judging from their sweet interactions, those recent break-up rumours appear to be just that — rumours.

Dressed in black, Boran and Liu Wen sat side by side and looked completely at ease with each other.

Boran was seen leaning towards Liu Wen and smiling at her several times, sending netizens swooning over the low-key PDA.

“This is what genuine attraction looks like,” gushed one netizen, while another wrote: “A real couple really is different.”

Then came this cheeky comment: “Sun Qian logs off, Liu Wen logs on.”

Needless to say, some The Early Spring shippers didn't take the sight of Boran and Liu Wen together quite as well.

“Okay, time to move on,” lamented one fan.

Another complained: “I can’t stand it when they hype up the couple while the drama is airing, then drop the pairing as soon as it ends.”

There were even some extreme comments calling for Boran and Liu Wen to break up

 That did not sit well with Boran’s fans, who pointed out that he has never exactly hidden the fact that he has a girlfriend.

“He has always made it clear that he’s attached and never tried to sell a real-life romance with his co-star. Please respect the actor’s private life,” wrote one.

Others felt some viewers had simply become too invested in the onscreen pairing.

“Just because the actors did a good job doesn’t mean they have to be together in real life,” reasoned one netizen.

Boran and Liu Wen have been romantically linked for years, though they have remained famously private about their relationship.

Guess some Early Spring shippers just got a rather big reality check.
