Man Runs Nearly Naked On The Streets After Losing World Cup Bet

As the World Cup heads into its final stages, excitement among fans around the world continues to build.

One man from Taiwan took his enthusiasm to another level by making a very bold promise that he eventually found himself having to keep.

The Taichung native purchased a sports lottery ticket betting that Norway would reach the semi-finals, and also announced online that he would run naked if his prediction failed. 

Now, as we all know, Norway was eliminated by England in the quarter-finals. And keep his word, the man did.

He later took to Threads to express his disappointment that Norway did not make it to the next round, before adding: “I’ll follow through on my promise.”

He then took to the streets shirtless, wearing only underwear, slippers, and a full-face helmet, possibly in an attempt to make himself less recognisable. 

Not only did he maintain a speedy pace throughout the unusual run, he also appeared to have livestreamed the moment at night on a pedestrian pavement beside a road as proof that he had kept his word.

His “mission” drew attention from people nearby, with some even cheering him on. 

The man quickly went viral online. While some netizens pointed out that wearing underwear meant it was not technically a completely naked run, others pointed out that he likely did so to avoid causing public disturbance or violating public decency laws.

Many also expressed their respect for the man and praised him for following through on his word. Some netizens even joked that it was “the most sincere version of a naked run” they had ever seen.

Well, he might have lost the bet, but he definitely won over the internet with his commitment to keeping his word that day.
