Man Wins Over S$1.5mil In Lottery, Gives All The Money To His Wife

Imagine hitting the lottery jackpot and then going back to your normal routine immediately. It sounds almost impossible, but that’s exactly what this lucky individual did.

Wang, a man from Foshan, China, won the Super Lotto grand prize on January 14. The same ticket not only claimed the sports lottery's first prize of 6.67 million yuan (S$1.2mil) but also won 20 second-place and 45 third-place prizes, bringing his total winnings to 8.36 million yuan (S$1.52mil).

Wang discovered his win while out for dinner during a work break. When he checked the numbers and realised he had won, his heart raced, and he immediately called his wife, eager to share the incredible news.

His wife was initially in disbelief. "Is this for real?" she asked over the phone.

Wang understood her skepticism. After all, it wasn't easy to process such a sudden windfall. As such, he hurried home and handed the winning ticket to his wife, who then checked it multiple times before finally accepting just how lucky they had been.

Even after all the excitement, Wang remembered he still had a night shift to work. He managed to compose himself and rushed back to the office, while his wife, still overwhelmed by the surprise, stayed awake all night.

The next day, the couple drove to the Foshan Sports Lottery centre to claim the prize.

According to Chinese media, when asked how he chose the winning numbers, Wang grinned as he revealed that he had randomly combined the birthdates of his family members.

"It's very important to have a rational mindset when buying lottery tickets," said Wang. He has been a regular Super Lotto player since 2013, always treating his ticket purchases as a small source of enjoyment in daily life, even if he didn’t win.

Thanks to his level-headed attitude, he was able to handle such a massive win with surprising calm and composure.

Wang's face was said to have lit up when asked about his plans for the prize money.

Without hesitation, he replied: "I'll leave it up to my wife to manage everything! I'll keep working hard and continue to buy tickets responsibly in the future."

For Wang, family harmony and happiness mean far more than money. By entrusting the winnings to his wife, he showed that his commitment to his family outweighs any monetary value.
