Hannah Quinlivan Criticised For Mixing English & Mandarin To Introduce Her Brand's "Tacky" Clothes During Live Stream

Being the wife of the Mandopop King definitely comes with its fair share of pressure.
Recently, Australian-Taiwanese actress Hannah Quinlivan, aka Mrs Jay Chou, was on a live stream with Taiwanese actress Melody Liu.
The pair discussed fashion, and Hannah, 32, took the opportunity to introduce her fashion brand JENDES, which she founded in 2018.
A model was also wearing a brown long coat from JENDES during the live stream, and she stood next to Hannah while the latter explained the inspiration behind the new drop.
"I really like pink, goes with brown. So I chose pink flower to go with the brown. That will make you very outstanding," she said.
A quick check on JENDES' website shows the coat is currently not available yet.
What got netizens upset, though, was how the actress was constantly switching between English and Mandarin during her explanation.
You see, she actually said "I really like" in Chinese, before switching to "pink goes with brown" in English, then back to Chinese again. The word "outstanding" was also singled out in English.
It didn't help that she was mumbling at the same time.
"The main [problem] is her enunciation. It's fine when other people use English words, Melody does it too, but she can express herself clearly. Whenever Hannah speaks it's not clear what she's saying," read a comment.
A netizen also said the actress gives off a vibe that she "has no culture".
Meanwhile, some haters found JENDES' clothes too "tacky".
"She has such good resources why can't she make pretty clothes? This outfit looks like it was from 20 years ago," one berated.
Some fans, however, have defended the star.
One noted that Hannah is indeed from Australia, which explains the way she speaks, while another praised that the coat's style is "quite nice".
"The European people like it, people in China don't need to understand [the look]," one argued.
