Twice Faces Backlash For Off-Key Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Performance
“Omg! Who is singing?? This sounds awful”.

After Blackpink's Lisa stole the show last year, K-pop reigned again at the Victoria’s Secret (VS) Fashion Show on Wednesday night (Oct 15). This time, Twice took the stage to perform their hits ‘This Is For’ and ‘Strategy’, making them the first K-pop girl group to perform at the VS extravaganza.
But the group is now facing a wave of criticism online for what netizens called an “off-key” and “painful” performance.
“They sounded fine while in Singapore. What happened at the VS show?” one commented, referring to their Singapore Indoor Stadium concert on Oct 11 and 12.
“Omg! Who is singing?? This sounds awful,” another added.
Some even singled out Tzuyu for having the weakest vocals, though fans quickly defended the group, pointing out that only four of the nine members were performing.
But it seems there was a legitimate reason for the shaky vocals.
Tzuyu has since apologised on Weverse, explaining that she was sick during the show.
"Before coming to New York, I warmed up my throat with a vocal teacher. But after arriving in New York, my throat got worse and worse. My voice was still good during rehearsal, but it got worse during the actual performance, and I couldn’t make a sound because I had phlegm in my throat,” she said.
Tzuyu also added that she tried drinking honey tea and other remedies to soothe her throat, but was unable to recover in time.
Guess it is just bad luck and timing.
