Is That Jay Chou At Merlion Park?
Recently, Xiaohongshu user 有胜 (You Sheng) got Jay Chou fans into a tizzy when he posted snaps of the Mandopop King at Singapore’s Merlion Park.
Was the Taiwanese superstar here on holiday? Or maybe for work? How did he manage to fly under the radar?
Well, turns out, it wasn’t Jay at all — just his impersonator.
Chey!
“Haha clickbait for a moment, it’s actually fake Jay Chou. Just arrived at Merlion Park and ran into Jay impersonator taking photos,” wrote You Sheng.
Many netizens, including You Sheng, thought the doppelganger was “Zhou Binglun”, egg roll seller Bai Xianying from Hebei, who went viral in 2020 for his striking resemblance to the singer.
But the “Jay” in question was actually seasoned Jay Chou impersonator 华安凯 Hua Ankai from Henan.
Boasting more than 380,000 followers on Douyin, Ankai has made a name for himself mimicking Jay Chou and often livestreams himself belting out the star’s hits.
He even posted a video of his Merlion Park outing.
Not everyone was impressed, though. Netizens roasted his looks, with one commenting: “Every part of him looks like Jay — except the face.”
Another quipped: “This one is a low-end version among impersonators.”
The harshest jab? “This Jay seems to have been run over by a truck.”
Not cool, guys.
