Agency Of K-Pop Group Enhypen Slammed For Selling Confetti As Concert Merchandise
Getting concert merch is usually one of the exciting things about attending a show. But imagine going to the merchandise stand and seeing this.
Recently, South Korean boy group Enhypen drew criticism online after their agency, Belift Lab, a subsidiary of record label HYBE, released a "concert confetti" merchandise item.
The confetti, officially priced at 18,000 KRW (S$16.40), immediately sparked heated discussions on Korean forum theqoo.
Of course, they aren't just selling bunches of confetti. The set does include individual member photo cards, a transparent storage pouch, an orange acrylic keychain, one autographed confetti piece, and10 regular confetti pieces.
Still, netizens unanimously felt that the product was "ridiculous".
“Aren’t those the confetti pieces fans picked up off the venue floor? Now they’re being sold with photos like secondhand goods," a fan said.
The group's agency was also slammed for "really knowing how to cash in". Said one fan: “Typical HYBE style, won’t let go of even the tiniest things to make money.”
Another netizen had another merch idea for the agency: “Why not just sell air from the concert too?”
On top of that, netizens pointed out quality issues, complaining that the plastic pouch and keychain “look like something off a dollar store shelf".
But why do we have a feeling fans are still going to buy it?
