Zong Zijie Makes Public Apology For Speeding Case: "It Was Definitely Irresponsible"
A day after pleading guilty to a speeding charge in court on May 6, local actor Zong Zijie made a public statement on social media about the case.
On his Instagram Stories on Thursday (May 7), Zijie wrote: "In response to my speeding case: It was definitely irresponsible for me to do so, considering past record."
The 30-year-old admitted to driving at 121km/h along West Coast Highway towards Pasir Panjang Road at about 12.55pm on Aug 23 last year, far exceeding the speed limit of 70km/h.
He has been fined $800 and disqualified from driving for one month.
The Noontalk Media artiste was unrepresented in court and said he had been rushing because he was late on the day of the offence.
Zijie reportedly had prior speeding violations in April and June 2020, as well as September 2023.
"I sincerely apologise for any upset caused to the public, also for my reckless behaviour," he averred.
"I will be mindful of my behaviour in the future and prevent such incident from happening again."
Zijie has since received supportive comments from his showbiz pals, including fellow Noontalk Media actress Angel Lim who left three heart-shaped emojis, and ex-Mediacorp actress Ann Kok who wrote: "Hang in there!".
