Zong Zijie Fined $800, Banned From Driving For a Month For Speeding
The actor admitted to speeding at 121km/h and was banned from driving for one month, despite the prosecution not seeking a suspension.
Local actor Zong Zijie has been fined $800 and disqualified from driving for one month after pleading guilty to a speeding charge in court on May 6.
The 30-year-old admitted to driving at 121km/h along West Coast Highway towards Pasir Panjang Road at about 12.55pm on Aug 23 last year, far exceeding the speed limit of 70km/h.
In court, Zijie, who was unrepresented, said he had been rushing and was late on the day of the offence.
According to CNA, the prosecution sought a fine of S$800 and did not ask for a driving disqualification, though it noted the NoonTalk Media artiste had prior speeding violations in April and June 2020, as well as September 2023.
When asked about a possible driving ban, Zijie said he hoped to avoid suspension as his work requires frequent travel.
For speeding, Zijie could have been jailed for up to three months, fined up to S$1,000, or both.
He made his acting debut at 13 in Mediacorp drama My School Daze in 2009, and has since appeared in shows such as Your World In Mine. He also won a Top 10 Most Popular Male Artiste award at the Star Awards last year.
