S'porean YouTuber Sisters TiffwithMi Live In A Rented Condo In Johor Bahru 'Cos It Offers Them More Space

The pair, who share the same room in their family home in Singapore, enjoy having their personal space... and also the lack of nagging from their parents.

The latest Kaypoh Room Tours episode took host Hazelle Teo across the causeway to Johor Bahru, where Singaporean YouTuber duo TiffwithMi live.

Tiffanie Lim, 24, and Michy Lim, 28, are sisters who run the channel together. They are known for posting Mandarin vlogs and lifestyle videos, and have amassed over 700k subscribers since starting YouTube a decade ago.

The pair rent a spacious 1,300 sqft three-bedroom condo in JB together, a space Michy describes as "undecorated" and minimalist". Although they did not renovate the place (it's a rental, after all), the sisters reveal they still spent a couple of months picking out furniture that suited their lifestyle.

They've been living at the condo for over two years now, and pay around RM$4,000 ($1,232) in monthly rent for a place "close to customs".

Both Michy and Tiffanie share the same reason for wanting to move out of their Singapore home, where they used to live with their family and had to share a room.

"We wanted our own space, and you know, being at home there's a lot of noise and a lot of nagging," laughs Michy.

Tiffanie agrees. "There's so much more space, and we also have our personal space. It's much better for us," she says.

Why JB instead of Singapore, though? Michy explains: "Actually we were previously staying in a condo in Singapore, and we stayed quite near to JB also. So we might as well come over here, [where] we have a bigger space."

Michy and Tiffanie have their own rooms, which are equipped with smart home gadgets — like a clicker that automatically turns their lights on and off, and a voice-activated night light — which allows them to live their optimal "lazy" lifestyles.

They are also super into their trinkets, like squishies and miniature toys, and have drawers filled to the brim with them.

"I think our toys can amount to about one year's worth of rent," jokes Michy. "But in our defense, we play with them. If we use it, it's not [a waste of money]."

One thing that's surprising, though, is that both sisters intentionally chose to have the secondary bedrooms instead of the very roomy master bedroom.

Instead, they use the master bedroom as a guest bedroom, as well as extra storage space, and have a pretty valid reason for doing so.

"I think it's because we're very used to a smaller space, like a smaller bedroom. In Singapore, we share one bedroom and it's not very big. I tried sleeping here [in the master bedroom] and it just didn't feel right," says Michy. Tiffanie, too, agrees that their condo's master bedroom is "too spacious".

Perks of living in JB? The sprawling space

Speaking about their relationship as work collaborators, Tiffanie reveals: "There will be hiccups here and there, but I think in general, we complement each other quite well."

Michy adds that Tiffanie is the one who gives in to her, and that they never quarrel over the content they post because they have clear roles — Michy does the ideating and planning, while Tiffanie executes those ideas.

"Basically I'm the head, and she's the hands and legs, so we function as a team," Michy says. Tiffanie, on the other hand, prefers to let others lead, and doesn't like having disagreements.

The sisters haven't always been close, with Tiffanie saying they "hated each other" when they were younger. However, as they grew up, they connected through their shared faith, with YouTube "accelerating the process".
