YES 933 DJ Zhu Zeliang, 29, Buys 2-Bedroom Loft Condo; Says Parents Want Him To Start A Family
When YES 933 DJ Zhu Zeliang started working five years ago, he set himself one major goal: buy his own home.
Now, at 29, he's officially achieved it.
Earlier this week, the radio jock took to Instagram to announce he'd bought the "biggest purchase of [his] life (so far)" — a two-bedroom loft condo in the north-east of Singapore.
It's quite the upgrade from the "man cave" at his parents' home.
While he declined to reveal how much he paid, Zeliang tells 8days.sg his bachelor pad cost more than his initial budget, though he's happy with the final price.
The trade-off?
"I guess I will have to work even harder now," he laughs.
He viewed "no more than 20 units" before finding the one, and says it was the high floor and location that first caught his eye.
The loft, however, turned out to be the unexpected selling point.
"It wasn't something I particularly searched for, but it was also the thing that really won me over," he says.
He's already got plans for the upstairs level too: it'll become his video-editing and gaming den.
Buying a home wasn't just about ticking off a financial milestone.
"I guess it's just one of those 'adulting' goals you set for yourself," he says. Though he never expected to achieve that goal so soon, he adds: "I've been blessed with many opportunities and many amazing people."
"Of course it's good to have your own space. You won't have to worry about disturbing your family members because of your work schedule or lifestyle habits."
His parents, however, had another reason for wanting him to move out.
"My parents have been pressing me to get my own place for quite some time, so they were very happy about it," he laughs, before adding: "They want me to start my own family. Typical Asian parents."
