"You Were Clearly Doing Fine": Ya Hui Mourns Passing Of Her Mum
The actress said she had hoped to take her mum to "many more places". "Why didn't you give me the chance?" she wrote.
Former Mediacorp actress Ya Hui is mourning the passing of her mum.
Two days after announcing the heartbreaking news, the 39-year-old shared another emotional message on Instagram Story, lamenting that she never got the chance to take her mum to "many places".
"You were clearly doing fine... I still wanted to take you to so many places. Why didn't you give me the chance?" she wrote.
Ya Hui also changed her Instagram profile picture to a plain black image.
The actress first shared the news of her mum's passing on Saturday (Jul 11) with a lengthy tribute on Instagram.
"Mum, thank you for being my mum," she wrote.
Reflecting on their relationship, Ya Hui recalled how her mum held her hand throughout her childhood, before their roles were eventually reversed.
"When I was little, you held my hand as I grew up. When I grew up, it became my turn to hold your hand and accompany you through the final stretch of your life."
She went on to thank her mum for facing life's hardships with courage.
"You've been through so much. It was never easy, but you were braver than anyone," she wrote.
She added: "Mum, you don't have to be in pain anymore. You don't have to suffer anymore."
She also shared that she had told her mum "I love you" just a day earlier.
"Yesterday I told you I love you. You said I was being so mushy, but I still want to say it again: I love you so, so much. I'll love you forever."
The Instagram Story is especially heartbreaking as just four days before announcing her mum's passing, Ya Hui had shared photos from a Parents' Day celebration with both her parents.
Calling her mum "so cute" and "so beautiful", Ya Hui wrote that as parents grow older, "they slowly become like kids again".
"It's our turn to love them, care for them and be there for them, just like they did for us," she wrote.
