"I'm A Triple Science Student": Sharon Au's 2nd Attempt To Fry Egg In Paris' 40°C Heatwave Ends In Defeat Again

After taking advice from netizens, the former triple-science student came armed with two pans, a different cooking oil and plenty of optimism. It still wasn't enough to beat the Parisian sun.

If at first you don’t succeed, try again.  That's exactly what former Mediacorp host Sharon Au did after her first attempt to fry an egg using the Parisian sun ended in failure.

Like many across Europe, the 50-year-old, who now lives in Paris, has been enduring the city's recent 40-degree Celsius heatwave.

Curious to see if it was hot enough to fry an egg, Sharon carried out the experiment on her balcony with the Eiffel Tower as her backdrop.

The first attempt, which she shared on Instagram on June 25, was, well, eggstremely disappointing.

Using a Japanese tamagoyaki pan and Greek olive oil, Sharon cracked an egg into the pan expecting a satisfying sizzle. Instead, there was complete silence.

She quipped in her caption: "Paris, 40 degrees. Me: cooked. The egg: not yet."

But you can't keep a self-proclaimed triple-science student down.

After her comment section turned into Culinary Class Wars, with followers dissecting her technique and offering plenty of advice, Sharon returned for round two in a reel posted two weeks later.

Declaring she was trying to "restore [her] dignity", she armed herself with two frying pans, sunflower oil and "an unhealthy amount of optimism".

She even followed netizens' suggestions by leaving the pans under the blazing sun for 30 minutes before cracking two eggs into them, passing the time by using two-litre bottles of oil as makeshift dumbbells.

The result? Still no sizzle.

Defeated, Sharon admitted: "I'm a triple-science student, you know. I should know that under 40 degrees is not enough to fry..."

Well, at least she got a workout in.

Paris heatwave: 2. Sharon Au: 0.

Sharon's first science experiment was a flop.
Armed with netizens' advice and plenty of optimism.
Making the most of the wait with an arm workout.
Realisation hits: 40°C weather still isn't frying-an-egg weather.
Eggstremely disappointed.
