Marcus Chin Was Bleeding In The Mouth During Live Charity Show; He Reveals What Happened

If you caught the Resilient Hearts 2025 charity show last night (Jun 29), you might have noticed something rather disconcerting at the start of the show.

The Singapore Heart Foundation live charity drive kicked off with actor-DJ Marcus Chin, who suffered a heart attack last October, giving a short speech.

His touching monologue, however, took a worrying turn as it became obvious to viewers that Marcus' lips and teeth were covered in blood.

Despite that, Marcus remained completely unfazed and continued with his speech. He later returned to the stage for another performance though it appeared the bleeding had stopped by then.

The incident sparked concerns about Marcus' health again. In an interview with Chinese media zaobao.sg, he explained that he's been taking two different types of antiplatelet drugs after his heart surgery. The bleeding everyone saw, he said, is a side effect of the medication.

"After taking the medicine, my gum would bleed occasionally. Sometimes it would even happen twice a week. The bleeding is also more likely to occur whenever I'm stressed," he shared.

Marcus believes the bleeding happened this time because he was under a lot of pressure, not just because he was the first to go on stage, but also because he had to memorise his speech.

"In that moment I didn't sense anything at all. I only realised I was bleeding after my colleagues and family came to ask me," he shared.

"I was fine during our rehearsals for the past two days but this only happened during the live broadcast. I was so angry! I'm so sorry for making everyone worry."

Marcus also praised the cameraman for thinking on his feet and for zooming out so the audience wouldn't be alarmed by his bleeding mouth.

According to Marcus, his cardiologist has advised him to see a dentist for his gum issues. On top of the bleeding, his teeth also feel sore from time to time, which bothers him.

"Now it's very tough for me to sing, especially when my teeth feel sore. It's hard for me to hit the high notes," said the getai singer.

Marcus also shared that he's been watching his diet but hasn't been exercising as he's busy working on his  Love 972 morning show The Breakfast Quartet.

"Even before I had a heart attack and was admitted to the hospital, I was already watching my diet. Things like durian and char kway teow, I only eat them once in a while," he said, adding that he became even more cautious about his health after his heart surgery.

"I am also that type of obedient patient who takes my medicine on time but I really do not have time to work out," he said.

"I'm a new heart attack survivor. It's been less than a year since I 'joined' [this club]. Maybe I really need to slow down, relax and not be so busy."

We're just glad he's fine!
