Imagine getting into a ride-hailing car, expecting just a quiet journey home.

Instead, you find yourself recording the conversation because you are worried about what the driver might do next.

That was exactly what happened to a 26-year-old woman in Singapore on her recent Gojek ride.

In a video shared by Instagram user @huatyousay, which has since gone viral, she shared what she described as an extremely uncomfortable encounter with the driver who allegedly asked her a series of inappropriate sexual questions during the trip.

The woman recorded her conversation with the PHV driver in the car, where he can be heard allegedly suggesting: “We can do threesome what”.

The driver can also be heard asking her if she was a virgin before suggesting they meet up one day.

He also made remarks about sex, spoke about his own sexual experiences overseas, and repeatedly questioned whether she had ever wondered what it would be like to be intimate with a man.

At one point, he even asked her if he could meet her girlfriend.

When she asked why he kept bringing up the topic, the driver was allegedly heard insisting he was "just joking", before once again mentioning the idea of a threesome.

Shortly afterwards, she got out of the vehicle.

The passenger managed to stay so composed throughout the entire exchange. According to @huatyousay, there was a reason.

“I'm still recovering from this traumatic experience,” she said, in a clip that was recorded the day after the incident.

She also revealed something that unsettled her further.

Earlier in the ride, the driver had apparently asked her for her age. After learning she was 26, he allegedly replied that his daughter was around the same age.

The passenger was seemingly flabbergasted by why he would then proceed to make sexual remarks towards someone young enough to be his daughter.

More importantly, she explained why she chose not to challenge him more directly during the ride, saying: “I was so scared that he was going to drive into an abandoned alley and maybe assault me or sexually harass me.”

Instead, she says she deliberately stayed calm and continued responding to him.

“I was trying to be calm, stay cool and just entertain him for my own safety. I feel like this is what a lot of women experience. We're just so afraid... what is this man going to do?”

Beyond feeling frightened, the passenger questioned whether such conversations had any place during a ride at all.

“I feel that it's highly inappropriate to ask a customer whether they want to have a threesome.”

She compared it to someone asking a colleague the same question at work.

“That's just a violation of workplace ethics," she said.

She says she has since reported the incident to Gojek, though at the time she recorded the video, she had yet to receive a response from the company.

According to CNA, Gojek has suspended the driver in the video and the company added that it will "take appropriate action" based on the outcome of its investigation.

The passenger also told CNA that while she was relieved the driver was suspended, she remains concerned that he was on other ride-hailing apps.

In the caption accompanying her post, she urged others to stay vigilant and displayed what she said was the driver's name and vehicle registration number.

Netizens were livid, with many urging her to lodge a police report if she had not already done so.

Others simply checked in to make sure she was alright.

“Super messed up. Hope you're okay,” one person wrote, to which @huatyousay replied: “Thanks gurlll. I'm safe, but traumatised.”

One even alleged that she had a similar experience with the same driver, even confirming if this was the same car plate number.

"Same kind of conversation, in that moment I couldn't even react or think straight that I should video it down!!" read the comment.

Others also encouraged her to be more forceful if she ever encountered a similar situation again.

“You must never tolerate that kind of language. Make it clear that one more comment like that and the police will be involved,” read a comment.

In such cases, for safety reasons, it is a lot easier to say that from behind a keyboard than when you are alone in a stranger's car, right?

8days.sg has reached out to both the passenger and Gojek for comment but did not receive a response from them at press time.

The passenger posted a recording of her Gojek driver's uncomfortable conversation
Yikes!
Props to her for staying calm through the entire ride
