Foreigner Can’t Get Seats At MBS Foodcourt At 10pm: “Is This Where Everyone In S’pore Flocks To?”

If you’ve ever been to Rasapura Masters, the food court at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands during peak hours, you’d know just how crucial it is to chope an empty seat if you’re lucky enough to fiind one.
Apparently, the food court isn’t just packed during meal times.
A Chinese netizen, who is currently based in Singapore, recently posted a photo of the super-packed place and asked: “Is this the place where everyone flocks to in Singapore? It was 10pm and I was looking for a place to eat at MBS, but there wasn’t one available spot in the whole food court, [does anyone] know why?”
She also shared a pic of a cafe in MBS, which appeared significantly less crowded than the food court.
Netizens were quick to tell the OP that the food court is “always that packed”, but not with locals. Instead, it’s usually tourists who patronise those food stalls.
While the MBS food court may not be the top choice for locals, we can see why it would appeal to non-locals, since it's a one-stop shop of a variety of local cuisine.
A netizen said that the general Singaporean crowd “wouldn’t opt to dine there”, and many commenters advised the OP to look for alternatives as the food there is “costly and average”.
“If it’s not too late, perhaps you’d want to eat at the Jurassic Nest Food Hall which is at Gardens by the Bay. It’s cheaper than the food at MBS, and the environment is better too,” suggested another netizen. The only downside to that, is that the Food Hall is not air-conditioned, as pointed out by another commenter.
Some have said that these tourist attractions are busier during the holiday season, as well as in the period leading up to National Day (‘cos of rehearsals and fireworks), and proposed that the OP return during an off-peak time instead.
