Chinese Traveller Says Business Class On SQ Is So Outdated It Looks Like It's "From The Last Century"

When it comes to Singapore Airlines, we're used to hearing nothing but praise.

But have things started to change already?

Recently, a Chinese netizen known as Mao Du, who appears to be an avid traveller, took to Xiaohongshu to rant about the five-time Skytrax world's best airline. 

He revealed that he was flying to Hong Kong from Singapore in the "legendary Singapore Airlines", before lamenting about the "outdated facilities" in the aircraft.

"This must be Business Class from the last century?," he scoffed.

Mao Du was also irritated that his seat couldn't be completely reclined, and had to curl up to sleep instead of lying flat. On top of that, he thought that SQ's food resembled what is served on AirAsia flights. 

”Singapore Airlines is really making a fortune," he quipped.

Netizens, however, were quick to educate Mao Du that the seats in SQ's Business Class can actually be reclined, just that he didn't know how to use them.

Some informed that he has to lift the cushion up before being able to lower the seat, while others remarked that he could have just asked the flight attendants for help.

Others even praised that the SQ beds are actually very spacious, well, if you know how to operate them.

However, there were also some who agreed with Mao Du that the aircrafts do need some upgrading.

"Indeed, this is the exact type of plane I sat on 10 years ago. The newest type of Business Class carriers don't fly this route," wrote one netizen.

They then added that passengers can get to enjoy the newest cabins if they are flying to destinations such as New York, London, San Francisco or Tokyo on the Airbus A350.

Mao Du's response to that? "Wow, then I have no choice but to go for the nearest [Tokyo flights] first."
