Michelle Yeoh Took 35mins To Walk A 200m-Long Red Carpet As There Were Too Many Fans Asking Her For Autographs & Selfies
Now this is what we call a homecoming.
Michelle Yeoh is back in Malaysia for her Oscars victory tour and she had a meet-and-greet session with her fans at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur yesterday (Apr 18).
And to say the 60-year-old was met with a warm reception would be an understatement of epic proportions.
Thousands of fans thronged the mall to see Michelle in person. In fact, she was so busy signing autographs and taking photos with those who came down to support her, she took 35 minutes to walk the 200m-long red carpet to the stage.
On stage, she greeted her fans in Cantonese, English and Mandarin, and shared that the past six weeks since she won the Oscar have felt like a beautiful dream.
"I completely feel everyone's love. Even though I'm not always in Malaysia, my heart is always with you guys because I'm truly Malaysian," she said.
And though it was raining, Michelle went out of the mall to meet her fans who were waiting outside for her.
Michelle went on to reveal that she had hand carried her Oscar trophy instead of checking it in with her luggage on her flight to Malaysia as she was worried it would go missing.
Now that she's home, where is Michelle planning to display her trophy?
According to the actress, she has a friend who "keeps both Oscars in the toilet" but she won't be doing that. Instead, she's going to "leave it at [her] mother's place and let her keep it for now."
She also shared that after her mother's birthday banquet, which took place immediately after the fan meet, she would fly off to London for work.
"I don't rest on the weekends," she laughed.
