Daughter of Late M'sian Datuk Splashes S$165K On Wedding Gowns Ahead of KL Wedding To TVB Actor

Hong Kong-based Malaysian actress Lisa Ch'ng, the daughter of late Malaysian tycoon Datuk Bill Ch'ng Chong Poh, is pulling out all the stops for her upcoming wedding to TVB actor Mat Yeung.

The 39-year-old reportedly spent more than HK$1 million (S$164.7K) on her bridal wardrobe alone, comprising her ceremony gown, pre-wedding gowns and evening gowns for the wedding banquet.

Lisa and Mat, 45, who have been together for a decade, will tie the knot at the JW Marriott Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on August 2.

The couple recently unveiled dreamy pre-wedding photos shot across Shanghai, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur. They also went to Guangzhou to film a creative wedding video that reportedly incorporates AI technology into the storytelling.

As Lisa’s mother is from Shanghai, she has a particular fondness for Shanghai design and chose a minimalist yet elegant custom-made gown by a renowned Shanghai designer for the wedding ceremony.

She also became the first bride in Hong Kong to wear a gown from The Atelier by Prof Jimmy Choo's Autumn/Winter 2026 'Twilight Stellaris' couture bridal collection during their Hong Kong pre-wedding shoot.

On the big day, Lisa will wear a traditional Chinese kua by Malaysian brand DanieLeslie, an embroidered Chinese-style gown, before changing into evening gowns by The Atelier by Prof Jimmy Choo, Woo Select, and Zuhair Murad.

The couple recently shared that while they're feeling relatively relaxed ahead of the wedding, they expect to be "very nervous" when they finally walk down the aisle.

They also revealed that Mat's proposal came as a complete surprise to Lisa.

While filming their wedding video in Guangzhou, the actor suddenly dropped to one knee in the middle of a street as part of a scene before officially proposing, leaving his bride-to-be both shocked and touched.
