Japanese Man, 23, Dating Classmate’s 83-Yr-Old Grandma; And They're Now Living Together
Despite the 60-year age gap, both their families are very supportive of the relationship.

Love really knows no boundaries — not even a 60-year age gap.
A Japanese couple recently went viral online: 23-year-old Kofu and 83-year-old Aiko (names translated) have been dating for five months, and yes, they’re very much in love.
Born in 1942 in Osaka, Aiko has led a pretty colourful life. She has worked as a horticulturist and owns a large botanical garden.
She’s been married twice — first for 12 years, then for five — and has a son, daughter and five grandchildren. After her divorce, she moved in with her son’s family.
Despite being in her 80s, Aiko is elegant, well-dressed, and youthful-looking, thanks to an active lifestyle and daily exercise.
She never expected romance again… until she met Kofu in January this year.
Kofu, who is about to graduate from university, is currently interning. Sunny, cute, and cheerful, he works in creative fields like advertising design and environmental planning.
His “type”? Mature women.
Turns out, fate had plans. Kofu was classmates with Aiko’s granddaughter. One day, he visited her home with several friends and fell in love at first sight with Aiko.
The feeling was mutual, though neither dared to confess due to the massive age gap. But repeated visits brought them closer.
The turning point came during a trip to Disneyland organised by the granddaughter, who later bailed, leaving just the two of them.
Cue magical day at the theme park, shared laughter, and finally, a sunset confession with the view of Cinderella’s Castle. (You can’t script this better, seriously.)
Aiko was deeply moved and that was the start of their relationship.
At first, they dated in secret, worried about what people would think.
But when their families found out, surprisingly, no one objected. In fact, they supported the relationship.
They have been dating for five months and now live together. Their anniversary? Valentine’s Day. How sweet.
According to reports, Aiko whips up meals daily while Kofu takes care of little things like squeezing toothpaste for her at night.
He says seeing her face every morning makes him happy, while she adores his cheerful energy and healthy appetite.
Online reactions range from disbelief to jokes, with many saying they can’t wrap their heads around the pairing.
As for us? Well, it’s definitely not your everyday love story, but hey, they look happy. And that’s what counts.
