When a rare new photo of retired Hong Kong actress Idy Chan surfaces, you know it’s going to get people talking.

The 66-year-old, best known as the iconic Xiao Long Nu aka Little Dragon Girl in the 1983 TVB adaptation of Jin Yong’s wuxia novel Return of the Condor Heroes, has been living life out of the spotlight in recent years.

So when she recently shared a new photo of herself — described as a “surprise Easter egg” — it didn’t stay under the radar for long.

After a fan reposted the pic online, it quickly made the rounds, with many excited to finally catch a current glimpse of the star.

And honestly? She looks great.

In the pic, Idy rocks a chic ‘do and a simple black outfit layered over a plaid top.

Standing next to a massive bouquet, she looks relaxed and radiant, gently holding the flowers with a soft smile. Effortless elegance, basically.

Naturally, the compliments came pouring in. Netizens called her “as beautiful as ever”, “ethereal”, and praised her for “aging gracefully” — the kind of reaction reserved for stars who seem to have hit pause on time.

Since retiring from the entertainment industry, Idy has lived a low-key life, shifting her focus to charitable work.

She’s said to be actively involved in education initiatives and post-disaster reconstruction efforts, particularly supporting children in remote mountainous areas of China, which explains why public sightings of her are so rare.

Idy first rose to fame in the 1980s with her roles as Wang Yuyan in Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils and Xiao Long Nu, cementing her status as one of TV’s most memorable leading ladies.

She later expanded her career to Taiwan, before returning to TVB in the late ’90s, where she hit another high with The Key Man.

Though she stepped away from showbiz not long after, she made a brief return in 2007 with the film The Way We Are and TVB drama Catch Me Now. After Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles in 2012, she quietly retired once more — this time for good.
