Celebs are constantly under pressure to look good. Not only are they expected to maintain their youthful appearances from years ago, some are even body-shamed and age-shamed for just getting older.

Although Taiwanese star Annie Yi, 55, is often praised for looking like “a beauty who hardly ages”, she has been on the receiving end of countless plastic surgery rumours.

A Chinese netizen shared pics of a young Annie on Weibo

A Chinese netizen recently took to Weibo to share pictures from Annie’s youth, debunking rumours that the star had undergone surgery to achieve her good looks.

The first of the two pics is a black and white photo of Annie in her teens, where she could be seen sporting a short haircut. The other pic was presumably taken a few years after the first, where she looked to have grown into her elegant features.

Many noticed that Annie’s features have not changed since the two pics were taken, and believed it was enough to prove that the star has always been a “natural beauty”, who doesn’t have reason to go under the knife.

She already looked good in her youth, okay?

Despite having the reputation as a “youthful-looking beauty”, naysayers have consistently insisted that Annie’s looks are “factory-made”, or at least maintained through surgical procedures.

Lest we forget, Annie’s son with ex-husband Harlem Yu, Harrison, turns 21 this year. She also has a seven-year-old daughter, Cindy, with her Chinese actor husband, Qin Hao. Which we would think kinda makes it okay for her to look, you know, her age.

When she returned to Taiwan from China late last year, the star, who was said to have boasted a “slim figure” and “excellent skin condition” in her 50s, was again swept up in plastic surgery rumours.

It was then that Annie finally decided to address her haters

Speaking to the Taiwanese media, the star laughed as she said: “At this age, it is impossible [to look like this] without a little cosmetic help! My mum has also given me a good foundation, and I guess our family has anti-aging DNA! I also place a lot of importance on self-maintenance, and although I have used a little [cosmetic help], my face is not stiff at all!”

Doesn't she look great for her age?
