"Fattest Justice Bao": Ex TVB Actor Sammul Chan Fat Shamed By Netizens In New Chinese Drama

Sammul deliberately gained weight for the role as the Justice Bao he played is different from previous portrayals of the character.

Former TVB actor Sammul Chan, who has kept a low profile since leaving showbiz four years ago, recently became the talk of the town after new web drama Bingpo, in which he stars as Justice Bao, or Bao Zheng, was released.

Some fans got their hopes up that the 44-year-old was making a comeback, but alas it was not the case.

The period drama, which also stars Taiwanese actress Puff Kuo, was filmed in 2018 and only just released. No reason was given for the delay.

But that wasn’t the only thing that got people talking.

Netizens commented on Sammul's “round face” and “thick neck”, with some saying that the "Most Handsome Actor in Period Costume" as he was once called has become the “fattest Justice Bao”.

He underwent a transformation for the role

Turns out, Sammul had deliberately gained weight for the role as the Justice Bao he plays is different from previous incarnations of the character.

According to reports, the story revolves around Bao Zheng who is tasked to secretly investigate a case while on leave at home.
