S'porean Content Creator Loses S$800 Buying Fake EXO Concert Tix From Scammer, Who Then Used Her Photo To Trick Other Victims

Losing S$800 to a concert ticket scam was bad enough.

But realising your own face had become part of the scam? That is a whole new level of nightmare there.

Singapore content creator Clara Soh shared on TikTok how she allegedly lost S$800 trying to buy tickets to see K-pop group EXO, who performed at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Jul 24 and 26.

But according to Clara, losing the money wasn't even the most shocking part of the ordeal — it was discovering that the scammer had allegedly used a selfie she'd sent to them and tricked other unsuspecting buyers with it. 

"It's official… I'm one of those stupid people who kena scammed because of a concert ticket. I just want to cry at this point. I just want to see my EXO. Is that so hard?" she lamented in the video.

Clara admitted she found the resale tickets on X, and that looking back, the warning signs were there from the very beginning.

First, she'd first transferred a S$150 deposit but immediately felt something was off. “The QR code already looked damn suspicious," she recalled.

She then suggested meeting the seller in person before paying the remaining balance.

According to Clara, the seller brushed off the idea, claiming Ticketmaster transfers were simple and there was no need to meet.

She believed the seller and transferred another S$200.

The seller then allegedly claimed the wrong ticket had been transferred and asked Clara to send another S$450 so the issue could be "resolved".

"So, I transferred lor. I’m so stupid, so I lost S$800 in total because I wanted to watch my EXO concert,” she lamented.

They presumably eventually arranged to meet up, and the biggest twist came when Clara arrived at the meeting point. She'd earlier sent the seller a selfie of her at the spot outside the stadium to let them know she was there.

Instead of using the photo to find her, she claims the scammer sent it to other victims.

She realised this when two strangers approached Clara and asked: “Are you the person selling the ticket?'"

Confused, Clara replied that she wasn't and that she was waiting for her ticket too.

Clara said she later made a police report, informed her bank and changed all her banking details as a precaution.

She says she doesn't expect to get her money back. Instead, she hopes sharing what happened will stop someone else from making the same mistake.

"It's been three days already, but it still keeps haunting me. I'm doing this to record one stupid moment in my life, so hopefully nobody else has to go through this nonsense,” she admitted.

Unfortunately, Clara's experience isn't an isolated one.

According to the Singapore Police Force, there were 722 reported concert ticket scam cases between January and October 2025, with victims losing at least S$615,000.

While full-year figures for 2026 have yet to be released, police recently revealed that at least 62 cases, involving more than S$68,200 in losses, were linked to the recent BTS ticket sales alone.

Police also noted that scammers are increasingly approaching victims through X, whereas previous cases were more commonly linked to platforms such as Carousell and Telegram.

Clara’s biggest takeaway? "Don't buy from [X]. It's really full of fake scammers,” she says.
