BTS Fan’s Dad Tried Using His SAFRA Membership To Buy Her Concert Tickets During ARMY Pre-Sale
And no, it wasn’t a dad joke.
As the dust settles from last week's chaotic BTS Singapore ticket sales, social media continues to be flooded with stories from battle-scarred fans who survived the Great Ticketmaster War, according to some fans.
One such fan, named Nova, may have shared what is arguably the most Singaporean BTS ticket story of them all.
In a now-viral Instagram video, the 23-year-old artist recounted how her father suddenly burst into her room while she was trying to secure tickets during the BTS ARMY membership pre-sale.
The reason? He believed he could help.
“I didn’t even ask, [and] he just burst into my room like this, he said, ‘There’s an ARMY membership presale, I have ARMY membership’,” she shared.
At first, Nova immediately dismissed the idea, before he declared, "I served this nation!”
If you don't know by now, ARMY in the BTS universe refers to their fans.
“My immediate reaction was ‘No you don’t’ It was a pretty deadpan reaction, and immediately I was like 90% sure there was some kind of misunderstanding,” she tells 8days.sg
Nova also shared with us that she ended up explaining to her dad the intricacies of how the fandom for every K-pop group has a name.
"And immediately his face falls, but then he starts laughing really hard," she tells us.
But it seems her explanation did not stick entirely, as this was when he later went, “Ohhh… you have to serve in the Korean military."
As you can already tell, her dad wasn’t joking.
According to Nova, her dad had spent 30 minutes trying to key in his SAFRA membership in hopes of gaining access to the BTS ARMY pre-sale.
She then tells us this was when he realised the misunderstanding, and said he went, "Aw man waste my time!" and how he had wasted 30 minutes.
In the end, Nova shares with us that she managed to get tickets, spending about S$208 per ticket.
So what does her dad think about being part of the viral video?
Nova tells 8days.sg that she was initially nervous about telling him, and only decided to give him the heads up after we reached out to her.
"I told him it got 50K views [on IG], and read out the all the comments, telling him he was the best, and cutest dad ever, and he was extremely pleased," she said.
Netizens were tickled by the exchange between Nova and her dad, many pointing out how adorable her dad was.
“Even if you did not win the ticket war, you have won in life with a father like this,” read a comment.
To which Nova replied that she truly did.
Another wrote: “SAFRA can consider doing something for the next BTS tour!”
The K-pop group was last in Singapore in 2019 for their Love Yourself World Tour, before taking a break in 2022 to begin their mandatory military enlistment.
They are set to return to Singapore to perform at the National Stadium on December 17, 19, 20, and 22 as part of their Arirang World Tour.
According to Ticketmaster Singapore, all 220K tickets have been sold
