She Rescued This Tiny Bird & Nursed Back To Health; And It Hasn't Forgotten Her Kindness

Most people who come across a baby bird on the ground would probably walk past it, or at best, call for help and leave the rest to wildlife experts.

But for one woman, a chance encounter turned her into a temporary bird mum.

In a heartwarming Facebook post, Xiong Xiong shared how she rescued a tiny nestling she found one rainy afternoon while spending time outdoors with her pet parrot.

The chick was in such poor condition that she immediately contacted wildlife rescue organisation ACRES for advice.

The organisation provided her invaluable tips on how to care for the vulnerable chick while it recovered.

“They patiently guided me on how to care for it, and over the weeks I fed it mealworms, crickets, papaya, egg yolk, and even a little of my baby parrot formula,” she wrote.

Her efforts paid off.

Over the following weeks, the once-fragile, featherless little bird grew into a healthy young bird capable of feeding itself.

"Watching it grow from a fragile, featherless chick into a confident young bird has been such a rewarding experience," she wrote.

Several netizens identified the bird as a yellow-vented bulbul, though its species has not been officially confirmed.

And while the bird is now perfectly capable of surviving on its own, it apparently hasn't forgotten who helped it get there.

According to Xiong Xiong, the bird still returns to her and responds when she calls.

"Now it is fully grown and able to feed itself, yet it still flies around me and comes when I call. It is a lovely little fellow, and I feel incredibly lucky to have been part of its journey,” she wrote.

The touching story quickly won over netizens, many of whom praised her patience and dedication.

But the story took an unexpected turn when Xiong Xiong later shared a curious update in the comments section.

According to her, she received a private message from someone claiming to be from ACRES.

"Someone PM-ed me and said he's from ACRES and asked for my number and asked me what and when I called. I did not reply to him. Little bit scary,” Xiong Xiong wrote.

Having previously encountered scammers on animal adoption pages, Xiong Xiong said she decided not to engage with the individual.

She also urged others to remain cautious when receiving unsolicited messages online.

At the time of writing, she said she had reached out to ACRES to verify whether the individual was genuinely affiliated with the organisation.

8days.sg has reached out to both Xiong Xiong and ACRES for comment but had not received a response by press time.
