Mark Lee Drops New Hokkien Song, Dedicated To "Tough Men Searching For Happiness For Their Families"

Is there anything Mark Lee can't do?
Recently, the comedian-actor-director-host-radio DJ-entrepreneur — Mark Gor, how many hyphens do you need?! — added a new item to his very long list of accolades.
He released a new Hokkien single 'My Journey' today (Oct 16), a song he dedicates to "the tough men who are searching for happiness for their families".
This is the 57-year-old King Kong Media Production head honcho's second Hokkien single, the first being his 1999 rock song 'Young Hero'.
Inspired by his life experiences, the new song illustrates Mark's current state of mind, he told Chinese media 8world.
“Along the way, I’ve been through many rights and wrongs, ups and downs, and met all kinds of people — some who helped me, and some who did me dirty," said Mark.
"All these twists and turns in life have shaped who I am today, and this is exactly what I'm feeling at this point in my journey.”
The actor wanted the song to embody the blend of a man's tenderness and masculinity, and, in order to achieve that, ended up challenging himself with higher vocal ranges.
He even insisted on multiple takes to meet the high standards set by the music director.
Mark chose to release the full music video of 'My Journey' on his birthday, and took the opportunity to give a shoutout to his wife Catherine Ng.
“She has always been my strongest shield, supporting me unconditionally during the toughest times in my life," he said.
Mark and Cat got married in 1999 and they have three kids — Calista, 16, and Maksonn, 13, and Calynn, 11.
He also thanked friends who helped him in critical moments.
Lastly, the actor hopes the inspirational track would help listeners hear the unspoken words of men, as well as those who are working hard and persevering for a livelihood and the people they love.
