Juin Teh Just Wants To Eat Steamboat To Celebrate Star Awards Win: "I Was Scared Of Getting Water Retention Yesterday"
It’s the final year she's eligible for the Most Popular Rising Star category. Luckily for Juin Teh, she managed to walk away from Star Awards 2026 with a trophy before she ‘graduates’ from the category.
That’s right, next year, the Star Search 2019 finalist is moving on to the ‘big girls’ category and going for Top 10 glory.
When 8days.sg spoke to a teary-eyed Juin after her big moment, she tells us that she doesn't know if fighting for Top 10 next year would actually be tougher.
"I've never contended for Top 10 so I don't know. Some people say there are 10 winners for that so the probability is higher. This year they picked three out of 48 contenders, maybe... Top 10 would be easier?" she muses.
Sharing the glory with Juin this year are Tyler Ten and Zhang Zetong, who will also be competing for Top 10 spots moving forward.
But that’s something she can worry about next year. For now, the only thing Juin is craving is hotpot.
"I already wanted to eat yesterday but I was scared of water retention so I didn't eat," she chuckles. "[It can be ] any steamboat as long as it's good."
It seems like she'll have to enjoy it with her friends instead of family though. The actress, who moved back to Johor Bahru last April, tells us that she won't be able to go home across the Causeway tonight as she still has work tomorrow.
"I am living in my friend's guest room, she says she will charge me later," she laughs. "My mum came to support me today, but she'll be going back to Malaysia."
In fact, Juin isn’t sure if she’ll even get to see her mother after the hectic night.
When asked if she did anything different to help her win this year, the actress candidly admits that she was "very shameless" this time.
"Every day I reminded people to vote for me," says Juin.
Did she vote for herself too?
"Occasionally," she cackles.
