When we hear the name Guo Liang, we think of someone who's calm, composed, and always in control.

But who knew that, at home, it’s his wife who calls the shots?

In a recent episode of #JustSwipeLah, the 57-year-old, who will be hosting Star Awards 2026 on Apr 19 with Mediacorp celebrities Cheryl Chou and Zhang Zetong this year, opened up about his relationship dynamic at home.

He surprisingly shared that decisions are mostly made by his wife, Jade Shen Jie, because she is more emotionally stable than he is.

Though she still seeks his opinion before making decisions, he said: “I’ve only ever agreed. I’ve never disagreed.”

Guo Liang went on to describe his wife as “virtuous, kind, beautiful, and a good homemaker”, adding that she is relatively reserved and introverted. They have a 27-year-old son, Marcus.

The host also shared a sweet story when asked how his wife has supported him during his over 30 years in showbiz.

“She usually doesn’t allow me to drink, as she thinks it’s bad for my health. I also turn red when I drink, which affects my image," he divulged.

But, well, there's an exception.

"Every year after I finish hosting the Star Awards and return home, there will always be a bottle of red wine waiting on the table, regardless of whether I’ve won an award.”

That, to Guo Liang, is her understated and reserved way of showing support.

This year, Guo Liang, who has already racked up nine Top 10 Most Popular Artistes wins, is going for his 10th trophy and a spot as an All-Time Favourite Artiste.

Hopefully, that bottle of wine will be used to celebrate his victory?

Catch the Star Awards 2026 Backstage LIVE on April 19 (Sunday), streaming from 3.30pm to 10.30pm on mewatch and the Mediacorp Entertainment YouTube Channel.

The Walk of Fame takes place from 5pm to 6.30pm, and will air on mewatch, Ch 8, Ch U, and the Mediacorp Entertainment YouTube Channel.

This will be followed by the Star Awards 2026 Live Show from 7pm to 10pm, broadcast on mewatch, Ch 8, Ch U, and the Mediacorp Entertainment YouTube Channel.
