Chantalle Ng's Foster Dog Was Rescued From South Korean Dog Meat Farm; Now He's Looking For His Forever Home In S'pore
The actress tells 8days.sg she's organising playdates to help find the dog a forever home, though she doesn't rule out adopting him herself.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday (April 15), Mediacorp actress Chantalle Ng revealed she is currently fostering a dog rescued from a South Korean dog meat breeding farm, where he was reportedly on the verge of being slaughtered.
Speaking to 8days.sg, Chantalle reveals that the dog, named Jeong, was brought back to Singapore by her friend, who works as a flight attendant.
Jeong, who is about four or five years old, and is up for adoption.
For now, he is staying temporarily at the 30-year-old actress’ home, which, at this point, sounds more like a full-fledged animal sanctuary.
“Like a farm!” she says with a laugh when we mention this. The Emerald Hill star currently has two Silkie chickens, Happy and Fluffy, a Singapore Special dog named Pretty, and a cat named Butter.
According to Chantalle’s IG, Jeong is very gentle, though he was a little nervous in new surroundings at the start.
Still, it didn’t take long for Jeong to settle in, especially after meeting the rest of the crew at home.
“He gets especially excited around my dog, cats, and even my chickens, and has never shown any harm,” said Chantalle on IG, adding that Jeong is grass-trained and that he thrives with regular walks.
Chantalle has since opened adoption applications via her DMs, inviting anyone interested to reach out if they are keen to give Jeong a forever home.
She tells us that she has received three adoption applicants so far, though she is not working with any animal welfare group or shelter at the moment.
“They all seem like great families, and I'll arrange playdates for everyone to get together,” she says.
And yes, Chantalle tells us she will be at the meetups in person.
“I think it’s important to personally see how Jeong interacts with their other dogs and the family. And also, their daily routine, how they can fit Jeong into their lives,” she says.
When we asked how Mum, veteran actress Lin Meijiao, is taking to the new addition at home, Chantalle tells us that she seems surprisingly on board this time.
“She is very happy with all the animals now. It is like we are running a farm,” she laughs.
“My mum loves Jeong. If there isn't a suitable family we're open to adopting him,” she added.
However, Chantalle admits to us that it is her, not Meijiao, who might have to think twice.
Despite hinting on IG that “if the right home doesn’t come along… I might just keep him myself”, Chantalle reveals that she is still keeping her options open.
“I already have quite a few animals at home, so if the right family comes along for Jeong, it will allow me to continue fostering other animals in the future,” she says.
This includes her cat, Butter whom she found and adopted while filming last year and requires regular medical attention.
“He looked very skinny and malnourished, so we brought him to the vet and went for a biopsy. Thankfully, it wasn’t cancer or anything serious — just severe IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and some kidney failure. So Butter requires quite a bit of attention from us, with IV drips, vitamin B injections, and steroid medication,” she explains.
