S'pore Content Creator Mishears 'You Like Charlie Puth?' As 'You Think My Chinese Improve?'—Then US Singer Charlie Puth Uses Her Audio

You might have seen the TikTok video of Singapore content creator Natalie Naploes hilariously mishearing “You like Charlie Puth?” as “You think my Chinese improve?”

The 23-year-old posted the clip with the text “POV that friend who can’t hear” last week, and it has clearly struck a chord — garnering more than 420K views and 47K likes.

But perhaps the biggest sign that the video has made it? Charlie Puth himself has now used the audio.

For the record, Natalie clarified in her caption that she does, in fact, like Charlie Puth.

The US singer-songwriter posted a TikTok of himself on a flight, headphones on, mouthing along to Natalie’s “You think my Chinese improve?”

And Natalie was, understandably, losing it.

“WHAT THAT’S CRAZY,” she commented on Charlie’s post, followed by: “YOU THINK MY CHINESE IMPROVE????”

She also posted a follow-up TikTok, declaring: “CHARLIE PUTH MADE A TIKTOK USING MY VOICE”.

“Guess who’s catching the next flight out to LA and permanently moving to LA and starting her new career in LA?” she joked.

“Me! Because guess what, Charlie Puth reposted my TikTok. And not only that, he made a whole a** TikTok to my audio.”

She continued: “Majulah Singapura! Seeing Charlie Puth lip-sync to my Singaporean accent is actually crazy.”

Natalie had apparently only found out Charlie had used her audio when someone broke the news in the comments of her original video.

“Bro!! Charlie reposted,” they wrote.

“Wait you’re kidding right,” Natalie replied.

Soon, more people started arriving at Natalie’s video courtesy of Charlie.

“I came here 'cos Charlie Puth used your sound,” wrote one.

One commenter even offered some career advice: “You can put in your resume that Charlie Puth used your sound”.

Not a bad addition to the CV, if you ask us.

And then there were those who shared what they heard instead.

“I LOVE CHINESE FOOD TOO!!” wrote one.

Others heard “You went photo booth?”, “You took out your wisdom tooth?” and “You think I didn’t poo”.

A couple of people somehow got: “你没穿衣服” — Chinese for “you’re not wearing clothes”.

Suddenly, “You think my Chinese improve?” doesn’t sound so far-fetched.
We don't blame Naploes for losing it.
