The Freshman's Carrie Yeo Says Her Dad Made This Tear-Jerking Gesture For "[Her] Mum In Heaven" At Kit Chan’s Concert

Looking for your parent in the audience while you’re in the midst of a performance is usually an exciting feeling.

But for local singer Carrie Yeo, this time, it was more bittersweet than we could imagine.

The 43-year-old was a backup singer at Kit Chan’s recent 2026 Atrium Live Tour concert, alongside the other half of The Freshman duo, Chen Diya.

During the show, she made it a point to look for her father, who was seated among the audience.

“It’s the first concert my dad has attended without my mum, so I was looking for him from the stage during a talking segment to see how he was doing,” she revealed.

Back in June, the singer shared on Instagram that her mother, Josephine Seet, had passed away.

Carrie described her mother as “a superwoman” who “always had so much energy”.

“I’ve said many times before that she was my hero,” Carrie wrote in her tribute to her mum at the time, although she did not disclose the exact date of her mother’s passing.

To Carrie’s surprise, her father did the sweetest thing out of the blue. In a video she shared, her dad could be seen bending forward before sitting up again and holding up a little red piece of paper.

"I found him picking up a piece of the red heart confetti and holding it up in the air. When I asked him why he did that, he replied 'love for you and family including mum'," she wrote.

"I think he was holding up the heart mainly for my mum in heaven."

Carrie went on to say that she was missing her mum a lot during the concert too.

“She would have enjoyed Kit’s concert so much,” she wrote. “I would like to think she saw the show and was smiling from heaven.”
