TVB Actress Jacquelin Ch’ng ‘Communicates’ With Late Mum On TV Show; Sister Says “Not A Single Thing Is True”

Things have gotten tense between Malaysian-born Hong Kong actress Jacquelin Ch’ng, 46, and her younger sister Mona, 39, following the former’s appearance on TVB metaphysics show War Of Diviners.

Their mum, Datin Kong Yok Chu, passed away in late August at the age of 82. The sisters are the daughters of late Malaysian tycoon Datuk Bill Ch'ng Chong Poh, who died in 2015.

Jacquelin recently appeared on War Of Diviners, hoping to “connect” with her late mum through contestant Angel, aka the “White Prophet”.

During the show, Angel claimed to relay a message from Datin Kong, apologising that Jacquelin had to shoulder the responsibility of looking after her younger siblings.

“Mummy actually loves you very much,” Angel told Jacquelin.

Angel also claimed Datin Kong had experienced upper respiratory discomfort and pain throughout her body before her death, leaving Jacquelin in tears.

She also correctly identified a gift Datin Kong had given Jacquelin in 2002 as a “bluish-purple car” and reportedly explained why she had bought it for her.

Jacquelin called Angel’s reading “extremely accurate”.

Her sister Mona, however, had a very different take.

Following the episode, Mona, who is the twin sister of TVB actress Lisa Ch’ng, took to social media with a lengthy post disputing the claims.

“Just watch it for entertainment and don’t take it too seriously. Not a single thing is true,” she wrote.

According to Mona, all three doctors who treated their mum confirmed that Datin Kong did not suffer before her death.

“Mum experienced no pain whatsoever before she passed away. In fact, throughout the entire process, she experienced none of the pain you described,” she wrote, adding that her mum passed away “very peacefully”.

Mona also disputed the claim that Jacquelin had to look after her younger siblings.

 She said the siblings were relatively independent growing up and the family had a driver and domestic helpers, so “there was never a situation where any of us needed to look after another”.

Mona then appeared to take a pointed swipe at her elder sister.

“The person who spent the least time with mum and cared for her the least when she was alive shouldn’t be the one saying the most after she’s gone,” she wrote.

“Please let her rest in peace.”

She ended her post with: “Family matters should stay within the family.”

Jacquelin had previously drawn criticism for sharing videos and photos from Datin Kong’s funeral in Malaysia, with some netizens accusing her of using the funeral to “chase clout”.

She later clarified that she was simply sharing precious moments on her personal social media account, including the sea of flowers at the funeral.

Jacquelin also said at the time that her mum had wanted her children to look after one another.
