Ex-TVB Actress Was Cheated Out Of Life Savings; Health Declined, Whole Body Broke Out In Rashes
At her sickest, Casper Chan weighed just 32kg.
Former TVB actress Casper Chan Sze Tsai, best known for playing maids in period dramas, caught our attention earlier this year when she revealed she had embarked on a new career selling chicken feet.
The 43-year-old, who left showbiz in 2015 after 15 years, joined ex-TVB actor Vin Choi's F&B business and runs a stall in Foshan in Guangdong.
In a recent Xiaohongshu video, Casper opened up about her financial struggles.
She said being an actor in Hong Kong doesn’t pay well, and although she has no children, still has significant financial responsibilities.
Her modest savings, accumulated over years in the industry, were wiped out after she lent the money to a friend in an emergency.
“Of course, in the end, it was gone forever, and the friend disappeared too. After that, my health broke down, even my immune system collapsed,” Casper lamented.
Because of her health issues, she was unable to work, and her finances hit rock bottom.
“I lost so much weight. I was only 70 to 80 pounds (32-37kg), and there wasn’t a bit of good flesh on my body,” said Casper.
She shared photos from that period, showing her face and legs covered in severe rashes.
“I sought both Chinese and Western medical treatment, which drained all my money, leaving me financially crippled,” she said.
On her doctor’s advice, she moved to China to recuperate and eventually made a full recovery.
Casper joined TVB after competing in the 2000 Miss Hong Kong Pageant, but her acting career never quite took off.
She was often cast in supporting roles, and in 2013, her career was further hampered when she was rumoured to have undergone cosmetic surgery.
At the time, she was an ambassador for a beauty salon and had two hyaluronic acid injections, which caused her face to swell unnaturally.
When reporters asked her what happened, Tracy admitted she had undergone cosmetic procedures, earning her the label “plastic surgery actress”.
Fortunately, she was able to restore her natural appearance.
